In every artist’s life, there comes a time when you must forsake the workbench for a show. That’s how I’m looking at the three wonderful opportunities that await me in May.
Bead Soup Blog Party 8
The great BSBP 8 reveal is scheduled for May 3. In an earlier post, I hinted my “soup was simmering.” Oh, if I dared to break the rules! If only I dared, I’d take a picture of my workbench this instant. My nearly-finished BSBP entry awaits.
But the fun of the event is you’re paired with a stranger and you’re challenged to depart your comfort zone.
Stay tuned. At 12:01am, Saturday May 3 I plan to reveal the outrageous creation I’ve devised for my soup from Marde Lowe.
Featured Artist, Amapola Gallery
Meanwhile, I’m prepping for “Fresh Faces,” May’s special show at Amapola Gallery. I’m lucky enough to be one of four featured artists: see my beads along with Pat Oliver, pastel; P.K. Williams, water media, mixed media; and Brett Shiells, pottery.
We host an opening reception from 1pm to 3pm Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 205 Romero St. NW. You’ll see Spring pretties, such as this new creation:
Amapola Gallery is a cooperative gallery with 45 local artists open daily from 10am to 5pm. “Fresh Faces” will be on display through May.
Old Church Corrales Artfest 2014
It’s exciting to have different events going on. It gives me a unique opportunity to connect with you and see how you feel about my newer creations. I love talking with potential customers and sharing that good bead energy.
On Saturday and Sunday, May 31st and June 1, 2014, I’ll be part of the juried 22nd Old Church Artfest in Corrales, NM. When I participated in this show two years ago, I was amazed: the audience seemed genuinely interested in the vendors; everyone was pleasant; attendees really appreciated the hand made by New Mexico artists offerings.
One of my traditions is to create a new collection for big shows such as this. I plan to introduce cell carrier bling bags this time.
Join me at the Old San Ysidro Church, 966 Old Church Road, 10am – 5pm Saturday and Sunday May 31 and June 1, 2014. The Old San Ysidro Church is located one mile north of the Corrales Post Office on Corrales Road, then 3/10 mile west on Old Church Road. Free admission and parking.
Can I count on seeing you there?
