The 22nd annual Old Church Corrales Artfest May 31 and June 1 was a blast.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by. As I reflected on the show, I recognized three factors that made it great: the people, (I enjoyed visiting with those I knew and meeting new people as well), the place – a beautiful area and good cause, and the organizers, Deb Kennedy and Bev Darrow. (NOTE: Did I forget to mention the homemade scones Sunday morning?)
My debrief included a picture recap. I purposefully neglected to capture those moments of loading or unloading, picking up after the wind, or enjoying the show special of frito pie.
These leather and pearl earrings, a show special, received tons of compliments.
A special shout out to fellow Amapola Gallery members who participated in the show:
(lower left)stoneware artist Sandra Lipka, (mid-left) photographer Pat O’Brien, (upper left) jeweler, Art-to-Wear Diana Kirkpatrick, (mid-upper) felting artist Annette Galvano and (upper right) sculptor and mixed media artist Kris Parrott.
This was the second time I juried into the Old Church Artfest event. Once again, my neighbor was the incomparable Cathy Veblen of Anthropottery. Not only is Cathy a fabulous potter, she’s a great example of a good neighbor in action!
I’m loving the special “Cathy” butterfly that now graces my workbench.
Cathy also loaned me a great clamp when the wind came up on Sunday afternoon. I used it to hold my earring frame to the easel. Now I own my own little set of these handy babies and appreciate the tip. These clamps are now added to my show checklist and they will travel to future shows with me.
So, the moral of this story is: enjoy your shows. Make an ongoing list of what you discover and what you’ll do differently next time.
Do you debrief your shows?
