“Find a beautiful piece of art. If you fall in love with Van Gogh or Matisse or John Oliver Killens, or if you fall in love with the music of Coltrane, the music of Aretha Franklin, or the music of Chopin – find some beautiful art and admire it, and realize that that was created by human beings just like you, no more human, no less.” – Maya Angelou
The Sandia Heights Art tour September 6-7, 2014 offers a bird’s eye view of 18 artists in 12 stops. I’m proud to open my studio to the public as a part of this tour.
This is my fourth year to participate in the tour. What can I say to encourage you to save the date?
“You use a glass mirror to see your face, you use works of art to see your soul.” –George Bernard Shaw
Plan to experience this community of artists. A group of only four, committed to promoting art started the tradition 11 years ago.
Peek into the places where participants work. See tools, organization, works in progress. Relish the different displays and treat yourself to products that appeal.
Enjoy beauty. Each participant crafts handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Trust me. You’ll find something to treasure.
Preview Night Friday, September 5, 2014 coincides with Albuquerque’s city-wide ArtsCrawl. High Desert Art and Frame hosts Sandia Heights Art and will display individual works of art for the month of September.
Join us 5pm to 8pm at High Desert Art and Frame for a reception and meet some of the artists. Each member of the SHA tour will have two or three pieces at the store.
