I spent time this weekend at the “church of beads,” (my studio in case you’re wondering) lost in a place of colors, findings and ideas…which some might term peace and joy and music.
Because I was thinking of the New Mexico Bead Society and my presentation there tonight, I played with a story necklace or two. Here’s a ‘charming’ Asian-themed presentation:
And a simpler, one strand “story” necklace.
As a bead aficionado The New Mexico Bead Society holds a special place in my heart. Earlier this year I proudly participated in the celebration of our 30th anniversary and the creation of an anniversary tree. I made two of the leaves on this tree.
A quote from the famous philosopher Sai Baba is displayed with the tree: “You are all separate beads strung together on that one thread–God.” Appropriate, don’t you agree for the “church of beads” concept.
Tonight, More Than Turquoise fashion blogger Jamie Lewinger joins me. We’ll look at Fall colors and trends in jewelry and talk about fun ways to get the word out with social media.
You may recall that Jamie featured my treasure necklace on her blog last year and I was lucky enough to have some major downloads of my e-book as a result. If you haven’t followed Jamie’s blog, sign up now. She’ll keep you giggling with her off-the-cuff comments and keep you current with what’s trending. (Pssst! She’s a regular contributor on KASA Fox Style, as well!)
Maybe I’ll have to whip up a special necklace for the occasion. Something with leaves?
What do you think?
