Ice Resin Bezels by MaryEllenBeads will be on display at Amapola Gallery during its 35th anniversary celebration. What fun to finally share my joy of creating with Ice Resin, a product I fell in love with at To Bead True Blue in Tucson.

Followers of this blog may recall I show my art at Amapola Gallery, an artists’ co-op in Old Town. As one of 40 member/owners, I’m involved in the organizing and planning of gallery events as well as in the preparation of my own bead art.

Show and Tell Event Kicks off Festivities

During Party on the Patio I will demonstrate snake knot macramé. My stack of snake knot bracelets launches conversations with strangers all the time. It’s a comfy summer look that begs to be duplicated.

The snake knot is based on a Chinese macramé knot, named for the way in which the knot folds in on itself. My favorite looks involve pearls or trade beads. Soft leather grows more pliable with use, almost molding the bracelet to one’s arm.

Join me for Party on the Patio, 10am – 5pm Saturday August 15, 2015. My special demo piece runs from 3pm to 5pm that day.

Amapola Gallery’s 35th Anniversary celebration incorporates three major events over a five-week period.

Celebrate with $35 “Roll back to 1980” items

Browse my new resin collection, each priced at $35 in honor of the celebration. The collection includes faces, animals and whimsical collages.

Each piece is represented on colored leather or adjustable waxed cotton.

Ice resin bezels are incorporated into my display and will be introductory priced throughout the Anniversary celebration, August 15 through September 13, 2015.

On Saturday, August 29th a collection of anniversary art from all member artists will highlight the $35 price point. Of course, you’ll find most of the members featuring something in their own display throughout the five week period, just as I’m doing.

Finale: “Let them eat cake”

Fittingly, a five week celebration such as this ends with ceremony. I so enjoyed coordinating with Sherri Brueggemann, Director of Public Art for the City of Albuquerque. Sherri will serve as mistress of ceremonies, cutting the ribbon for Amapola’s next 35 years and serving up the first piece of cake. Yes, there will be cake all day.

Sherri’s mother was an Amapola Gallery member several years ago, so the connection is perfect. I learned that as we talked about the upcoming event. As you can tell, the detailed plans are coming together. You’re invited to attend any and all of the events, open to the public at no charge. Here’s a detail recap:
