The fun of a show includes its preparations. In conjunction with ceramic wall artist KD Fullerton, I made talismans for our guests at the opening of this month’s featured artist show (part of City-wide First Friday Artscrawl) at Amapola Gallery. The picture above is a preview of our gift.

I believe “Everything looks better in cellophane!” So, we placed our 50 mementos in clear bags with this note:

Thank you for joining us to celebrate the opening of “Ancient Cultures, Distinctive Interpretations.” These shards represent our respect for ancestors. KD fired them. Mary Ellen added leather and beads so you have a memento you can enjoy and a talisman to connect you to the timelessness of art. Our exhibit runs through June 30, 2016. Come often.

It was an awesome event. Thanks to fellow Amapola Gallery members Ann Connely and Kristin Parrott, KD and I talked with guests, discussed Artscrawl with local patrons and mingled with tourists.

I’m especially grateful for the ongoing support of friends and family who came to the show. Many thanks.

A few of our talisman packages remain and you will receive one with any purchase while supplies last.

This package shows the shard talisman available with purchase from Amapola Gallery Albuquerque.
