Ten family members willingly tackled a new project, a “Bird Tree Love” paint party for craft day 2016. The results were outrageous.
A large family , we enjoy games and activities. Craft Day usually consists of a single creative session in which we make handmade cards for the immediate group of 32 members. We did that as well, using a combination of fiber collage, stamping and creative presentation. This is the fourth year for the handmade card effort. It’s become a family expectation and the “regular participants” look forward to spending time together giggling, assembling and creating.
Paint party, an add-on experiment, received rave reviews. It started with a kit that included a video, e-book and supplies.
Surprises in Bird Tree Love Paint Party
As with any project, the surprises made the day special: technology challenges with the video, a wonderful salmon salad for lunch, the joy of completion for everyone, the opportunity to see a side of each other that we didn’t know existed, a birthday party for four to culminate the day’s events, and paint everywhere!
Seven-year-old Aleigha produced an awesome canvas and amazed everyone with her attention and staying power. Youngest niece Katie finished first and then helped Grandma. Sisters, sisters-in-law, mothers, and nieces shared brushes, helpful tips, and the warm chatter that only families can know.
Conclusion for Bird Tree Love Paint Party
